About Steven L. Pease

A director and former co-chair of USRF, former Chair, CEO and director of TUSRIF and former director of CFE, Steven L. Pease has had a varied career as a management consultant, a venture capitalist, a pro bono director of not-for-profit organizations and as a CEO who headed up and in some cases led the turnarounds of several public and private companies.

As a serial entrepreneur, he conceived and later served as deputy-chair of a Russian railroad tank car company, and a general partner of a venture capital partnership. Over a period of more than 20 years, he served as a pro bono chair, co-chair, CEO, and director of three Russian nonprofit organizations—all sponsored by the United States government. In those roles, he travelled much of the world.

Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Steve is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Washington with a master’s degree from Harvard Business School. He also has written two books: The Golden Age of Jewish Achievement and The Debate Over Jewish Achievement.

He is active in community affairs in the small wine country town of Sonoma, California, where he lives with his wife Joyce (and their two cats!)

Russia today is a dangerous enigma.
In Nothing Ventured: An American Life, Steve Pease reveals insights from his 37 years as an entrepreneur in this fascinating place.
In 1985 Steve became intimately involved in Russian investments. In his 50 trips to Russia, he became an on-the-ground eyewitness to the complexities of its quirky, and sometimes dangerous, economic landscape.
